There are boys prospects that are signed to an SEC school. Archie Goodwin and Alex Poythress are both committed to play for the University of Kentucky in the fall. Goodwin came in 2nd at the dunk contest on Monday. It has been rumored that an NBA scout was taking notes on Poythress in practice because of his athleticism. Goodwin is a top-15 prospect and is ranked as the 5th shooting guard prospect. Poythress is ranked as the 16th overall player and 3rd at the small forward position.
Many undecided players in the McDonald's All-American game are considering SEC schools. Miller Grove power forward, Tony Parker, is considering Kentucky and Georgia. Parker is ranked as the 21st overall and 7th at the power forward position. Parker has been called lazy due to his effort in practices this week.
Another undecided player is Findlay Prep power forward Anthony Bennett. Bennett is considering 2 SEC schools, Florida and Kentucky. Bennett is also considering Oregon, Washington, and UNLV. Bennett is considered to be a top-10 prospect and is the top ranked power forward.
Shabazz Muhammad was considered the top overall prospect until Nerlens Noel re-classified. After great practice performances Muhammad may reclaim the top spot in the class of 2012 rankings. Muhammad won the dunk contest on Monday night. Muhammad is only considering one SEC school,Kentucky. Muhammad is also considering UCLA, USC, Duke, Kansas, and UNLV. Muhammad is set to commit between April 11th and April 13th.
Undeclared small forward Devanta Pollard is considering several SEC. Pollard, a Mississippi native, lists 4 SEC schools, Kentucky, Missouri, Alabama, and Mississippi State. Pollard is ranked 32nd overall and the 8th best small forward. Pollard is also considering Georgetown and Texas. Pollard was called a lock for Mississippi State if Mississippi native Kenny Payne took the head job.
There are several players the may be playing in the SEC next year in the game tonight. The game is at 9:30 eastern on ESPN.
